Blushing

Austin, TX
Comprised of two husband and wife teams, Blushing is an Austin, TX based dr...eam pop / shoegaze quartet that originated in the summer of 2015 after Michelle Soto (guitar, vocals) shared her songs with long-time friend and classically trained vocalist Christina Carmona (vocals, bass). Picking up the bass, Carmona helped to fully flesh out tracks and the two incorporated their spouses Jacob Soto (drums) and Noe Carmona (guitar). Bringing together their combined classic influences from bands like Lush, The Sundays, Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine, they developed their own sound as it is today. Their debut EP "Tether" was self-released in 2017, followed by their EP "Weak" on Austin Town Hall Records in January of 2018. Their current debut self titled LP (Blushing) released September 6, 2019 on 12” Vinyl with Wallflower Records (US) and on CD with Hands and Moment Records (Japan). Read More

Deserta

Los Angeles, CA
As experimental as it is enthralling, Black Aura My Sun applies the vapor-t...railed production values and sublime dynamics of Doty's previous group projects (including post-rock band Saxon Shore and the synth-laced post-punk of Midnight Faces) to a shoegaze-y sound that splits the difference between Slowdive and Sigur Rós. Deserta expands and contracts, with chords that drift like clouds, drums that drag and dissipate, and hooks that hang in the air for what feels like forever. Read More

Flyying Colours

Melbourne, AUSTRALIA
Emerging from Australia’s vibrant shoegaze scene, Melbourne’s Flyying C...olours arrive at a sound that combines My Bloody Valentine’s wall-of-sound guitars and barely there girl/boy vocals with sundrenched melodies. the band released its first single, "Wavygravy," before issuing a self-titled EP in November 2013. Which was then backed up by their explosive live shows, setting them well apart from others occupying Melbourne's shoegaze scene. Gold Cage

Los Angeles, CA
Gold Cage - Social Crutch (felte) 'Social Crutch' is the debut full-length... album of Los Angeles-based post-punk-tinged slow-core trio Gold Cage. Comprised of singer/bassist Mony Katz, singer/guitarist Cole Devine, and drummer Sage Ross, the band combines dreamy guitar loops, delicate, dueling vocals, and slow, driving tempos to create spacious arrangements that shimmer with atmosphere. Warmed with tape saturation, 'Social Crutch' is an exercise in measured minimalism, with every tone carefully sculpted to fill the vast space of each track. Shoegaze, reverb-drenched guitars evoke Galaxie 500, Yo La Tengo, Deerhunter and even Rowland S. Howard. Yet 'Social Crutch' remains very much in the present, thanks in part to the band's ability to marry a range of influences into thoughtfully structured songs. Throughout the album, Katz' and Devine's equally laconic, whispery vocals elevate each song as they drift in and out of each other, sometimes softly colliding in gorgeous harmony. Read More

Grivo

Austin, TX
Emerging like an ornate relic, Austin-based power trio Grivo unleashes thei...r ominously trudging sound with the debut full length Elude. Combining slow, methodical hooks and warm tube amplifiers, Grivo’s massive tones artfully re-establish the link between heavy guitars and downtempo pop to yield a potently encompassing experience. Utilizing effects as an active compositional element, Elude’s infectious riffs are brilliantly crafted and paced to allow the saturated guitars and bruising low-end to fully bloom. Within the tidal sound waves and bleak timbre, Grivo forges a distinctive personal connection that challenges the modern definitions of doom metal and shoegaze. Read More

Horse Jumper of Love

Boston, MA
Memory looms large on Horse Jumper of Love’s hypnotic sophomore album, ...So Divine,’ but it remains elusive. Throughout the record, tiny snapshots from the past float to the surface, baring themselves for brief moments before diving back into the ether. Like abstract collages, the Boston-based three-piece’s songs jumble richly detailed scenes and vivid imagery, papering over one moment with the next until each string of seemingly unrelated thoughts coalesces into a breathtaking work of art, one that reveals deep truths about ourselves and our psyches. “A lot of these songs are about making small things into huge deals,” says guitarist/singer Dimitri Giannopoulos. “They all start with these very specific little memories that, for some reason or another, have stuck in my mind. Memories morph and change over time, though, and they become freighted with all these different meanings. We’re constantly adding to them.” The same could be said of Horse Jumper of Love’s music. Praised by Stereogum as a “delightfully distorted mess of energy,” the band’s sound is absorbing and urgently hypnotic, with songs that develop at a glacial pace, progressing forward with almost imperceptible moment Read More

Lightning Bug

Brooklyn, NY
A lightning bug glows with the aid of a chemical called luciferin, derived ...from Latin for “light-bringer”. Lightning Bug began as three friends who made music together to bring each other light. The music we make continues to hold that purpose at its heart. Each song is born from a cycle of tension and release as I struggle to do the right thing, to follow the right path, and to become who I want to be. These struggles within the individual are mirrored in the greater patterns of life and nature. The music of Lightning Bug is an attempt to record the deepest experiences in the self and connect them outward. Read More

Marble Arch

Paris, FRANCE
The most alert ones will recall the name of Marble Arch from the Saint-Laur...ent Paris Sessions photoshoot made in 2015 by the music lover and fashion designer Hedi Slimane. Back then, Yann Le Razavet was not the most famous face of the photoshoot having bands such as La Femme and Melody’s Echo Chamber. However, the man behind Marble Arch was already a brilliant hope for the French pop music pool. His first record The Bloom Of Division drew attention (2004, Requiem pour un twister / Le Turc Mecanique) but was more of a bedroom pop experience. It was a very intimate project made from his native Brittany, far from any scenic ambition. Named after the London based monument made of white marble and located on Oxford Street, Marble Arch have really though their second record through, having less artistic torments than financial issues – hence the title Children of the Slump. Meanwhile, Yann Le Ravazet had some time to think about the musical tone and sounds of his new record. He didn’t want it to be labelled shoegaze nor dream pop. As a matter of fact, we’d be more likely to hear reverberated pop (Remeniscence), saturated pop (the infectious song “I am on My Way”), nostalgic pop (Moonst Read More
