Autre Monde

Dublin, IRELAND
Autre Monde are Paddy Hanna (vocals), Padraig Cooney (bass, synth, vocals),... Mark Chester (guitar) and Eoghan O’Brien (drums, synth, backing vocals). Three of them are from Dublin and Mark is from Cumbria. They met through their involvement together in the Popical Island collective (Skelocrats, Grand Pocket Orchestra, Ginnels, No Monster Club). The Imaginary Museum is their debut album. Released through Strange Brew Records (Junior Brother, Squarehead), the long-player follows a run of singles and an EP stretching back to 2017. Put together over several sessions with Girl Band's Daniel Fox, the album's 9 songs mark a definitive statement from a band who have evolved their earlier interpretations of post-punk/art-pop to arrive at a richer, more expressive moment, often taking folk-ish melodies and structures as a launchpad. They quickly gained attention in Ireland in 2017 for their run of singles and stirring live performances, with The Thin Air insisting they were “one of the very best bands in the country”. Read More

Daniel Casimir & Tess Hirst

London, UK-ENGLAND
Following the success of 'Escapee', Award Winning Bassist Daniel Casimir an...d Vocalist/Co-writer Tess Hirst return for their debut LP, These Days. This time, inspired by their surroundings, the West London pair document charged observations delivered via thought provoking lyricism, neo soul and modern jazz. A regular fixture on the UK jazz scene, Casimir (a former Birmingham Conservatoire student) has provided his heavy weight upright sound for the likes of Julian Joseph, Jason Rebello, Benet Mclean, Lonnie Liston Smith, Nathan Facey, Shane Forbes, Chihiro Yamanaka, Ashley Henry, David Lyttle, Nubya Garcia, the Clark Tracey Quintet (Meantime, Jubilation), Tom Harrison (Unfolding in Tempo), Jasmine Power (Stories and Rhymes), Camilla George and Art Blakey Jazz Messenger saxophonist, Jean Toussaint. Hirst released her debut EP ‘Love’s Sunday’ in 2015, having moved to Leeds from London with a short spell in LA to learn her craft, quickly making a name for herself on the jazz circuit with her smooth sleek vocals. In 12 tracks Casimir and Hirst blend a traditional Jazz ensemble with technology and post production techniques to narrate their way through a political and cultural land. Read More

Urban Heat Island Effect

Austin, TX
Structured around the core duo of Jonathan Horstmann and Kevin D. Naquin, U...rban Heat Island Effect merges the pulsing, futureshock sounds of Austin’s emergent darkwave scene with the melodic anthems of the city’s countless indie rock luminaries. The result is a revitalizing mix of thrilling hooks and soaring melodies that recalls Naquin’s former tourmates TV on the Radio as well as the moody aloofness of The Human League. Horstmann and Naquin are joined live by bassist Pax Foley (Dark Palaces). Urban Heat Island Effect are currently recording an upcoming release with engineer/producer Jonas Wilson (Aaron Behrens of Ghostland Observatory and Midnight Stroll) that promises to blend the rousing potency of Horstmann and Naquin’s punk bonafides with the dark romanticism of their more esoteric projects and cement their place in the synth music pantheon. - Morgan Davis of Ovrld.com Read More
