Black Lips

Atlanta, GA
Atlanta underground rock provocateurs Black Lips have announced that their ...new LP The Black Lips Sing In A World That’s Falling Apart is set for release January 24th on Fire Records/Vice. Boasting an unapologetic southern-fried twang, the twelve-track collection marks the quintet’s most pronounced dalliance with country music yet, with a clang and harmony that is unmistakably the inimitable sound and feel of the Black Lips. While the songcraft and playing is more sophisticated, Black Lips were determined to return to the raw sound roots that marked their early efforts. Recorded and co-produced with Nic Jodoin at Laurel Canyon’s legendary, newly reopened Valentine Recording Studios (which played host to Beach Boys and Bing Crosby before shuttering in 1979) without Pro-Tools and other contemporary technology, the band banged the album out directly to tape quickly and cheaply, resulting in their grimiest, most dangerous, and best collection of songs since the aughts. Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express

San Francisco, CA
On May 15th, Chuck Prophet will release The Land That Time Forgot, his new ...album out on Yep Roc Records. Most of the record’s dozen songs were co-written by Prophet and klipschutz, his longtime collaborator. Together, they recall the melancholy wonder of their native Bay Area, a land that, to the acclaimed songwriters, represents the hope and despair that makes rock ‘n’ roll so timeless, even if it’s now full of “robots with ironic haircuts.” It’s a darker, more present take on Americana and all its beautiful losers. Priced out of his home turf, Prophet recorded the album with producer Kenny Siegal (Langhorne Slim, Amanda Palmer, The New Pornographers) on the New York-Vermont border, where he could look upon his hometown with fresh distance. With a new drive and new hooks, he orients himself around an array of locations real and imagined - including SF’s Tenderloin District, an English roundabout, and “Nixonland” - while hanging out with a love-struck mirror and the ghosts of Johnny Thunders, Willie Wonka, and John the Baptist, and contemplating the train that carried Abraham Lincoln home for the final time. It’s everything you’d expect from a Chuck Prophet record and more. Read More

In 2019 Jealous played over 70 shows across Europe, including numerous support shows for bands as Amyl And The Sniffers, Viagra Boys, The Black Lips and Surfbort. Max Pain and the Groovies

Brooklyn, NY
Hailing from Brooklyn and incorporating the soundscapes of their western or...igins, Max Pain and the Groovies are as heavily grounded in their psych-garage rock roots as much as their tradition of dabbling in the many genres under the umbrella of rock ‘n’ roll. It’s sheer instinct for the five-piece to vibe along with the surf psychedelia that got them here, but it doesn’t take onlookers long to realize that their core sound spans from the likes of new-age garage outfits, the ‘60’s San Fran psych-rock scene, to the raw power of the '70's in NYC. Miranda and the Beat

Brooklyn, NY
Hailing from a burgeoning pocket in the rich Brooklyn music scene, Miranda ...and the Beat is a vivid reminder of what makes rock n roll and soul hip-shakingly addictive. Psychic Bloom

Tehran, IRAN
Psychic Bloom A snapshot of pre-revolution Iran reveals a patina of a middl...e-eastern Laurel Canyon; a velvet painting of a bohemian paradise of reality beyond our western expectations, informed by the mysticism of Rumi and opium-smoking mystics, drinking from the waters of a California beach that never existed and found only in magazine cutouts and American cinema. Psychic Bloom is based in Tehran, Iran, where the “light is buried by dirty sands,” in a cosmopolitan fortress of pollution, anxiety, and soul-searching, where Hashill is using his surf guitar to find ride a visa and break through the walls between east and west. Rock and roll is his jet plane; battering-ram; caravan and currency to freedom as the first Burger Records signing from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Read More

Stuyedeyed

Brooklyn, NY
Irrepressible, loud, direct, fuzzed out — Stuyedeyed are an unhinged skul...l rattling atop a spine, snapping to intensity and directing your attention to our reality, right now. Originating in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, Stuyedeyed [STĪ - died] cultivate an unfettered attitude in their music to embolden the disenfranchised to challenge the status quo. These songs speak to the experiences of singer and songwriter Nelson Antonio Hernandez-Espinal and are brought to life with bassist Humberto Genão, drummer Luis Ruelas, and guitarist George Ramirez. Broadcasting a riotous energy to the important dialogues of our time in a tumultuous yet carefully articulated sonic wave that emanates resilience. Stuyedeyed depicts the experiences of being young Latinxs in a “New York-for-some” bubble. With rhythm, aggression, conviction, and cut teeth, they slash through a thick curtain of anxiety and depravity with urgency. Their newest EP, Moments of Terribleness, captures notions of self-identity and assimilation in a targeted, experimental explosion. These songs deconstruct what is “Cool” and memorialize our vanity in an era of individualism. Read More

Swampmeat Family Band

Birmingham, UK-ENGLAND
Swampmeat began somewhere, sometime in the mid 2000’s, emerging from the ...Coldrice scene inhabited by the likes of Copter, Big Bang and many other deplorable reprobates. Danny C and T-Bird recorded two long players in the coming years (Double Dutch & Moonshine and Camp Heartbreak) and graced many a stage from Birmingham to Brazil in their quest to preach their good word and deliver booze braised, angst ridden gems of love, loss and absolution. Danny C took a hiatus from the shores of Blighty for a while, releasing three LPs and touring with Low Cut Connie all over the US of A. Now though, all is forgiven and Danny C and T-Bird are joined in the trenches by Mr Richard March (Bentley Rhythm Ace), Tommy ‘Castro’ Hughes and Miss Joni Coyne creating the Swampmeat Family Band. The crew have just finished working on their sophomore record and together they shall be performing hits, old and new, to audiences all over from here on out. It’s a family affair. Read More
