Angelica Garcia

El Monte, CA
With Mexican and Salvadoran roots in the San Gabriel Valley, East of Los An...geles, Angelica Garcia has spent the last few years creating a new, second family for herself within the welcoming community of Richmond, VA. The bond is christened with the announcement of Garcia’s signing to Spacebomb Records (Bedouine, Matthew E. White), and the release of her first two singles for the preeminent Richmond label: “It Don’t Hinder Me,” an anthem celebrating her roots that blends Wall of Sound pop and Southern rock, and “Karma The Knife,” a Reaggeaton-meets-dancehall earworm. “It Don’t Hinder Me” arrives alongside a new Spencer Ford-directed video filmed in the surrounding neighborhoods of Garcia’s family’s home in El Monte, California, featuring family photos and shots at local favorites like Tyler Market & Tacos El Arco. Garcia's recent single "Jícama" gained wide acclaim, named in the top 10 songs of the 2019 by the The New York Times and featured on Barack Obama's Songs of the Year playlist. Read More

Candeleros

Madrid, SPAIN
Drawing from influences like Cumbia, Merengue, Dub and afro-caribbean rhyth...ms, Candeleros surrender to a sort of exorcism full of differents sounds in which they reach altered states of consciousness. All of this includes percussion sounds coming from the beyond, Andean echoes, cinematic atmospheres and tunes that seem to come from an old episode of The Twilight Zone. Candeleros music is like digging into a postmodernism hole to find the very pure of tropicalismo. Candeleros has worked hand in hand with great artists such as Dodosound (Iseo&Dodosound), Faauna and Carlos Tález, among others. A diverse group of music lovers that perfectly shows that Candeleros has no prejudices. Candeleros is the living proof that Cumbia has come to Europe to stay. Candeleros is a plurinacional group of six people that come from Colombia and Venezuela. They have their operational center in Madrid, from where they try to expand a multicoloured psychedelic sound to dance. ‘Echar una candela’ is commonly known as the improvised reunion around the tobacco, fire and music. Nemegata

Austin, TX
Several obsessive years with Colombian traditional music and instruments we...re the result of a defense mechanism to cope with being an immigrant preteen in late 1990’s United States. Victor-Andres Cruz "El Guámbito" found refuge and a profound sense of identity rooted in these sounds. Raised as an amalgamation between the Colombian countryside, Florida, New England and New York City, Victor created a voice and a place where all worlds converge. Influenced by cumbia, bullerengue, gaita music, Colombian Andean songs, Southern Mali’s wassoulou music, Sahara’s desert blues, as well as 60’s and 70’s delirious psychedelia from Africa and South America, Nemegata is a mystical fierce power trio currently stretching its roots in Austin. On August 10, 2018 Casa del Indio Discos released Nemegata’s first single; a lo-fi, raw sounding recording which took place at a rehearsal space in Queens, NY using a 4-track cassette recorder. The tracks were produced in collaboration by "Niño Lento" and played on drums by "Dilemastronauta", two of the masterminds behind the emblematic Combo Chimbita. Chicago based indie label Sonorama Discos will be releasing Nemegata's debut LP in the Spring of 2020. Read More
