the 4onthefloor

Minneapolis, MN
Joining together in the name of fun & joy, the 4onthefloor bring their well...-oiled, high-octane, rock’n’roll to the world with an immediacy rarely seen on stage in the 21st century. The furious delivery ebbs and flows with sing-a-long anthems and breakdowns, to soaring guitar solos and unbridled full-bore rock. Camaraderie is a common theme, and stompers are finding like-minded rock’n’rollers at every show. Hailing from Minnesota, they take the heavy road route, grooving in the tracks of so many rubber to the highway musicians before them. Following in the footsteps of some of the band’s influences, being on the road plays a large role in the writing. The merriment must come from all angles, including the stage for a memorable show and the 4onthefloor BRING IT. Douglas writes about experiences, failures, successes, and not-so-much the what-could-have-beens. Life is for the living and this is the soundtrack to a life well-lived. Keep the fire in your eyes. Branson Anderson

Ogden, UT
Singer-songwriter Branson Anderson hails from Logandale, Nevada, a tiny, sl...eepy, desert town dating back to the 1860s, best known as the home of the Clark County Fair and Rodeo. As a teen, Anderson started writing songs with dreams of rambling across the land as a traveling musician. In fact, he once ditched high school and took a two and a half day bus ride to Nashville with the sole plan of going to Third Man Records to meet Jack White. It didn’t quite pan out and fifteen hours later he was back on a bus headed home, but a love for the adventures of the road got into his blood on that trip. Now based in Ogden, Utah, another historic frontier town rich in cowboy lore, Anderson lives in a camp trailer and fully embraces the life of a troubadour, working as a truck driver for a rock quarry when he isn’t gigging. With a creative approach to writing that eschews traditional song structure, Anderson’s influences include Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Jack White, and Robert Johnson. Fueled by a humble reverence for Americana, as a performer Anderson channels the spirit of yesteryear imbued with a fresh, unique take on roots music. Read More

Edan Archer

Gainesville, FL
Archer's swampy sensibilities come through loud and clear in the grooves of... Journey Proud, her voice is sultry as sweet tea and crackles like the ever-present heat lightning of her Everglades upbringing. All moonshine and honey, she gets gritty with dulcimer magic and casts spells with intimate ballads and fingerpicking, alternate tunings, and rich effects. As she pulls from her varied influences--Appalachian folk, country, and rock, she creates music that's familiar yet fresh, music that reflects the listener's life experiences back to them. There are swampy songs, honky-tonk tunes, alt-country cruisers, and a samba-tinged nod or two to her Cuban heritage on Journey Proud, woven together with her direct lyrical challenges to society's idea of gender roles and femininity, her throwback vocal vibrato, and fiery fingerpicking. She sings of heartbreak, rebellion, substance abuse, hard work, and spirituality--a micro-verse of American life told through American musical styles. Journey Proud encompasses tales of addiction, death, and even a bank robbery (a true story)--the subjects may be tough, but it's a beautiful listen. Read More

Honey Harper

London, UK-ENGLAND
Honey Harper’s debut album, “Starmaker,” to be released March 6 on AT...O Records, comes as a collection of contradictions in both subject matter and style. It was written with his wife and writing partner, Alana Pagnutti, and recorded over the past three years in Paris, Budapest, and London. Born William Fussell in Adel, Georgia, he was raised in Atlanta before moving to London with his wife. In 2017, after years of playing in a shoe-gaze band and an art-pop project, he returned to his roots in country music and released “Universal Country,” a critically acclaimed EP with Arbutus Records. Since then he has been recording “Starmaker,” which he describes as a “celestial honky-tonk” combining the famous ideology of Gram Parson’s Cosmic Country with an aesthetic to match. The blending of the ethereal FM synthesizers with a classic country twang bring about a marriage reminiscent of Brian Eno and George Jones. With album appearances from Sébastian Tellier and Austra, the contrast of the songs becomes even more apparent and set Honey Harper apart to become the torch-bearer for a revitalized country sound.

Jimmy DeTalente and The Electric Revival

Evansville, IN
Metamorphosis literally involves a caterpillar devouring parts of itself in... order to be birthed into something more beautiful. This metaphor of metamorphosis is one that has been used to describe many an artist’s transformation from raw, earthy garage talent, into something palatable, homogenous, and radio ready... next stop pop stardom. But what if the butterfly discovers it feels more at home in the earth, digging, digesting and describing the very essence of life, instead of flying high above the tree tops and blue skies of ready-made pop? What if the moth could return to worm? What if you could rewind metamorphosis and strip all the shine away and find that lost anthem of the soul? What if you could scrap the digital and return to the natural state of stripped down analog? That is just what Jimmy DeTalente and the Electric Revival has done. With lyrics full of life experience, infused with emotion provoking guitar riffs, tied together with soulful, groove-driven drum parts, Jimmy DeTalente and the Electric Revival's music is comparable to Crowder, Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, and NeedToBreathe. Johnny Gates

Nashville, TN
Nashville based singer/songwriter Johnny Gates isn't a rookie. He started h...is first band in high school, and immediately fell in love with music. Spending the first few years climbing up the ladder in his local music scene, Johnny and his band, RUNAWAY SAINTS, eventually moved to Nashville, TN to chase the dream. Once in Nashville, he and his band had a chance to work with some of music's biggest names, such as Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum) and Dan Huff (Rascal Flatts, Thomas Rhett, Midland), sign to a major record label, and most importantly, focus his attention on songwriting. After getting close enough to taste his dream, and even opening on tour for Rod Stewart, Johnny had to make a career defining decision, which was stepping away from the band, moving to Los Angeles, and going forward with just his guitar. Since that day, Johnny has toured the US multiple times, landed a spot on a national network television show, played to a packed house at the Troubadour, and went to work writing and recording his debut solo project. me&you

Sacramento, CA
With two backpacks and one guitar, brother and sister Connor & Karlee Horme...ll found themselves living in a camper van in the backcountry of New Zealand in November of 2016. Luckily, the Sacramento, CA natives found just what they were looking for, a new batch of songs and a new sense of purpose in their music. It was in the van that the siblings planted the seeds for their Americana project, me&you, and wrote their latest EP release, "Chasing Trails" (July 2018). After returning to the states, the duo connected with producer Ben Tolliday (Lord Huron, Hozier) and instantly knew they’d found a home for the songs they’d written on the road. With Tolliday producing the project and a successful crowdfunding campaign underway, the duo recorded the 5 song EP in Los Angeles, CA at Whispering Pines Studios. Described as a “warm summer night, out having a beer with friends” by Sacramento News and Review, the band’s “instantly infectious, jangly folk-rock” (For Folk’s Sake) has since landed them on tour with John Paul White, Devin Dawson, and Dwight Yoakam, among others. Highly anticipated, the siblings' new EP record is in the works and can be expected in June 2020. Read More

Pokey LaFarge

Normal, IL
In early 2018, LaFarge — searching for the sort of artistic freedom and i...nspiration he wasn’t finding in the Midwest — relocated from his longtime home base of St. Louis, Missouri, to Los Angeles, California. New songs came quickly to LaFarge in his new environment, but new temptations soon found him, as well. Though he declines to get into specifics, LaFarge admits that he experienced a significant “fall from grace” during the last months of 2018. “Things sort of started to unravel in my mind,” he recalls. “I was letting evil spirits and demons rule me, and I came into certain agreements with them, and it took me down. I was giving too much power to the darkness, and I got in too deep, and I made some bad decisions. The reality of the situation is that I hit the closest to rock bottom that I ever had, and I’ve definitely had some hardships in my life.” But shortly before the recording of Rock Bottom Rhapsody began, LaFarge experienced a spiritual awakening — and the faith he re-embraced in his hour of darkness helped to buoy him through the making of the album. San Saba County

Austin, TX
San Saba began as a straight garage-country group that could only come from... Austin, Texas: equally comfortable playing the Continental Club and 30-something house parties with angular po-mo groups with Romulan haircuts. Singer John Saba and his Jesuit high school classmate, Chris Wellington, wedded the unshakable rhythm of Idahoans Tom Hudson and Tyler Mallory (Silver Scooter) and mutual friend Carlos Orozco. Over the course of a decade, the band has truly found their sound. 2020 marks the year of band’s sixth album, “Guitarra Eléctrica” (March 2020). This album is forged from 1960's Texas garage-rock, cosmic-country, R.E.M, and the multitude of music that followed in their sneaker prints. It's music for people who don't care about genres anymore, so long as the guitars are loud. "Fifth," (2016) was well-received, described as “ghostly anthemic” and deserving of “the same national audience that Okkervil River and Shearwater enjoy.” -Austin Chronicle. Through it all, are the songs: honest, witty, and well-crafted. But, like the band’s predecessors, the essence will always be remembered sounding best as performed jumping off the hardwood floors of an East Austin crash pad. Read More

Sarah Shook & The Disarmers

Chapel Hill, NC
North Carolina’s Sarah Shook sings with a conviction and hard honesty sor...ely lacking in much of today’s Americana landscape. Always passionate, at times profane, Sarah stalks/walks the line between vulnerable and menacing, her voice strong and uneasy, country classic but with contemporary, earthy tension. You can hear in her voice what’s she’s seen; world weary, lessons learned—or not—but always defiant. She level-steady means what she says. Writing with a blunt urgency—so refreshing these days it's almost startling—Sarah's lyrics are in turn smart, funny, mean, and above all, uncompromising. Sly turns of phrase so spot on they feel as old and true as a hymn. Anger that's as confrontational as it is concise. Humor that's as wry and resigned as a park bench prophet. Read More
